The Strong Hearts Fundraiser is presented by UNISONg,Wagga Women's Community Choir and will be a fundraising event for the Wagga Womens Health Centre. Group singing has been shown to improve our health in so many ways.and the evening aims to put a spotlight on cardiovascular health in women through song and a healthy hearts discussion.
There are songs that you can sing to (eg Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees and Welcome to New York by Taylor Swift) that help you keep the beat when performing chest compressions during CPR. Songs must have 100 to 120 beats per minute to have the right rhythm for the life-saving procedure and UNISONg will be performing a selection of these songs at the fundraiser.
20 women a day die from coronary disease in Australia. We also know that woman are less likely to be given CPR in a public space putting them at greater risk of dying from cardiac arrest when out and about. Let’s raise our voices and engage our minds on an important issue while also raising necessary funds for frontline services to improve heart health for women in the Riverina.
Join us for a wonderful evening of live potentially life saving ear-worm performances by UNISONg, raffles, and guest speakers – speaker line up to be announced closer to the date.
Thanks to the Riverina Conservatorium of Music (Wagga Wagga) for their support.
